September is suicide awareness month and October is Mental Health Awareness month. We have all been touched by these issues, whether by someone very close to us or someone we know of. From personal experience, navigating the mental health system is confusing and frustrating, and I have been a health care provider for over 20 years. 2020 has been a year for everyone and the isolation that people are experiencing is beyond anything we have ever experienced before. Isolation only fosters increased depression, anxiety, substance abuse, domestic violence, and suicide. You are not alone. I encourage you to make small steps everyday to focus on positive ways for coping with stress. Access Consciousness, The Bars, is a phenomenal mental detox tool.
